WELCOME! New Brooms - Old Hands 2025/03
The Dresden Artists' Association cordially invites you to the opening reception of the format
WELCOME! New Brooms - Old Hands
on November 13, 2025, starting at 6 p.m.
at the association's offices.
Hauptstraße 34, 01097 Dresden
Welcome by
Janina Kracht and Thomas Hellinger
In this format, our new members each choose an existing member as their tandem partner and present their works together.
On display are works by:
Raphael Ng & Doris Titze
Alexandra Schewski & Stefanie Busch
Juliane Vowinckel & Anne Rosinski
Singapore-born artist Raphael Ng is now based in Dresden, where he works in the field of performative drawing. In his latest experiments, which involve making sound visible through the intensity of charcoal pencils and Chinese ink, he was drawn to Doris Titze's large-format works not only because of their shared medium, charcoal. Upon closer examination of Titze's series of drawings, he quickly realized that she works with music in the same way he does.
The question of how a line rhythm can be written onto the page to reproduce what is heard without illustrating it is the subject of their encounter in the visualization of musical compositions by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt.

Architectural and spatial configurations, atmospheres, and memories form the most important starting point for the search for fundamental aesthetic laws and principles in Alexandra Schewski's work.
For her debut in the Künstlerbund, she is joined by Stefanie Busch, with whom she has had more than just a friendly relationship since they met at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts. The two are now exchanging ideas again artistically for this welcome event. And although they share a common interest in black and white, photography, materials, and space, their approach to these fixed points opens up very different universes.

Our new member Juliane Vowinckel describes the connection between her work and that of her chosen tandem partner Anne Rosinski as placing different levels of perception in a tense dialogue.
While the latter condenses fleeting moments and emotional landscapes on paper, Vowinckel captures the moment of seeing itself with her ceramic eyes. The fragility of the drawn environment thus encounters the material presence of perception, giving rise to an intense reflection on the interplay between the outside world and inner life.

The Künstlerbund Dresden e. V. (Dresden Artists' Association) was founded in 1990.
It functions as a professional association for artists working in the visual arts, mostly on a freelance basis. It is not commercially active and is independent of political parties and organizations.
The association is a regional association of the state association “Landesverband Bildende Kunst Sachsen e.V.” and thus belongs to the “Bundesverband Bildender Künstlerinnen und Künstler” (BBK) based in Berlin.
